篇一:

题目:In most parts of the world, the volume of traffic is growing at an alarming rate. In the form of an assignment, discuss about the main traffic problems in your country, their causes and possible solutions.

范文:The progress of transport industry is inevitable and undeniable. What is under controversy is whether the volume of traffic is growing at an alarming rate. To be frank, I am in high favor that we are well aware of the traffic problem.

In my point of view, a possible cause of the problem is that we lack the infrastructure construction. Also the overpopulation is the cause of this problem, especially in China. Although the growth of the transport is rapid, it still can not meet the increasing needs of people. Furthermore, people abuse the private cars to take public transport instead, which caused more cars put into use. Lastly, individuals are also responsible for this problem. People are lacking in consciousness and awareness for traffic situation in order. Sometimes, people drive after drinking, which causes more traffic accidents.

The solution, I think, is for government to inject more funds into the construction of infrastructure, increase more construction, such as the restructuring of metro system, elevated ways, Pearl line, and superhighway. Also government should levy heavy tax on luxurious products, and encourage people to use bus service instead of private cars. To individuals, we may establish the family planning to control the growth of the population. Furthermore, we should publicize the importance of obeying the traffic regulations among people by education, and form the civil health lifestyle.

To conclude, with the joint effort of people and governments, I am sure the traffic problems will be improved.

题目:Some people think that university graduates should earn a higher salary than less well-educated peers.  What is your opinion?

The answer to this question depends on the kind of work involved and I don’t believe that a taxi driver with  a degree should be paid more than other taxi drivers without degrees just because he went to university. But  university qualifications are a legal requirement in many fields and in these cases I agree that a graduate  should earn a higher salary than less well-educated peers. Such legal requirements have been by the  government for a reason and the work involved is generally of a complicated or demanding nature that  cannot be safely or adequately performed by those who have not completed the requisite study and training.  Doctors, for example, are paid well because the knowledge and skills they have acquired through many  years of training enable them to do a highly important and potentially dangerous job.

Another justification for graduates earning a higher salary concerns the ever-increasing cost of university  study and the time and effort that must be devoted to its successful completion. Thousands upon thousands  of dollars must be spent in some cases to complete a degree and no one would be willing to make such an  investment without the incentive of a good salary upon graduation. The unpaid nature of university study  can also demand the endurance of great poverty and this is another reason why graduates should be  compensated for the sacrifices they have made.

High salaries should not be considered a matter of automatic entitlement for graduates but they are  certainly justified when entry into the position concerned is restricted to those with the appropriate  qualifications.

篇三:

题目:Should the goal of college education be to ensure that the students find a good job or should it aim at  cultivating the students’ overall abilities?

The two goals mentioned above need not be seen as incompatible in my view. Rather, they should be  combined to form one broad approach to education which I believe can better prepare students for the  current work environment than an approach which focuses too narrowly on one vocational area.

Contemporary society is characterised by a rapid rate of social and technological change and this is  reflected in the workplace, where factors such as downsizing and the introduction of new technology make  it necessary for workers to be highly flexible if they want to remain employable. Such flexibility might  include a readiness to retrain or diversify into other areas and I think that students are best prepared for this  through a multi-disciplinary education.     Another point concerns the rapid rise in graduate numbers that has taken place in recent years. In some  countries this increase has occurred at a greater rate than the economy’s ability to generate new employment  2 and under such conditions it’s not unusual to find 500 graduates applying for one position. Faced with  having to choose between these applicants an employer will probably look for qualities other than basic  technical competence and the right qualifications. These other qualities might include general knowledge,  good communication skills, a creative approach to problem solving and an ability to take initiative, all of  which can be developed through a broad, multi-disciplinary approach to college education.

In conclusion, it could be argued that the same skills and qualities which have always been valued in the  workplace will remain valued in the future, but perhaps even more so due to the ever-decreasing value of a  college degree.
